The Rainbow Kids Story


    George and Maria are brother and sister. They stand together with their mother on the roof. It was raining but now sun is rising out of clouds. Light is scattering in the sky. They see a rainbow in the sky.


Maria : Do you see a rainbow in the sky ?

George : Oh yes, how colourful it is!

Maria : Yes, it looks attractive. How many colours do you see in rainbow, George ?

George : There are seven colours in it.

Maria : Can you tell the different colours in the rainbow?

George : Oh yes, I can, just see, these are-violet, indigo, blue, green, yellow, orange and red.

Maria . That is right. I want to tell you one thing more. The

sequence of different colours is fixed. While at one end it is red colour, on the other it is violet colour. Other colours lie between these two.

George : I see but, when do we see the rainbow in the sky?

Maria : We see the rainbow in the sky during rainy season only.

George : Why do we see it only during rainy season ?

Maria : You know water vapours are present in the air. These are tiny droplets of water during rainy reason. Sun rays fall on these droplets. Then we see rainbow.
