    Lal Bahadur Shastri was born on October 2, 1604 in a simple family of Mughalsarai (Varanasi).

    His father's name was Sharda Prasad and mother's name was Ramdulari Devi. He had a good reputation in the society due to many virtues.

    When the child Lal Bahadur was only one and a half years old, his father died. As soon as the father's shadow arose, all the burden of the family fell on the mother, but she did not give up her patience. Now she started living in her ancestral house Ramnagar with son and two daughters. These children were the center of all the hopes of the mother. Faced with many difficulties and difficulties, he brought up these children.

After completing his elementary education, the boy Lal Bahadur came to Varanasi.


Lal Bahadur had a special interest in reading and writing. He was a very straightforward and mild-mannered child. He always used to stay in touch with his companions. It was not in his nature to quarrel over small things. He himself suffers, but does not give any trouble to anyone. Most loving. This was the reason why he remained the darling of all the teachers and classmates. ,


Lal Bahadur was studying in Harishchandra High School in Banaras. At that time "Swaraj is our birthright. This speech of Lokmanya Bal Gangadhar Tilak was resonating throughout the country. This inspired him to patriotism. He got the opportunity to see Gandhiji for the first time in Banaras itself. He was very impressed by his speech. That speech became for him the mantra of patriotism and service to the countryNow he started participating from time to time in the Swaraj movement along with his studies.

    Gandhiji's non-cooperation movement started. People started participating in the movement leaving government jobs, schools, courts etc. The farmers and laborers of the villages started joining this movement. Lal Bahadur Shastri also left his studies and jumped into the movement. In this fight for freedom, he had to bear the tortures of jail many times, but he did not deviate from his goal.

    In the year 1921, Kashi Vidyapeet was established in Banaras for the spread of indigenous and national education. Lal Bahadur ji started taking education in Kashi Vidyapeeth. In 1926, he passed the Shastri examination. Now he became Lal Bahadur Shastri from Lal Bahadur.

    After finishing his studies, Shastri ji became active in the service of the country. First he became the Minister of State Congress. Then he was elected as a member of the Uttar Pradesh legislature. Meanwhile, he had to go to jail several times.

    Whatever work was given to him, he continued to do it with great honesty, duty and diligence. Impressed by these qualities, Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru invited him to Anand Bhawan.

    In 1642, he had to go to jail again in the 'Quit India Movement'. The financial condition of Shastri ji's family became very weak after going to jail, but it did not frighten them. Always stand firm on your duty.

    The country became independent. Independent India formed its own government. Prime Minister Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru made him the Railway Minister in the Union Cabinet. He made many reforms in this area. Once during his time there was a horrific train accident. Saddened by this accident, Shastri ji resigned from the post of minister. Later he was given the responsibility of Minister of Industries and Minister of Swaraj. He served all the posts with great integrity, promptness and honesty.

    After the death of Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru, Shastri ji unanimously became the Prime Minister of India. Shastri ji's simple personality was full of amazing perseverance.

    Shortly after becoming the Prime Minister, Pakistan attacked India. The country was facing many problems in those days. There was such a shortage of food that wheat had to be imported from America.

    At such a time, Shastri ji awakened the self-respect of the countrymen by giving the slogan 'Jai Jawan, Jai Kisan'. He said, "Tie a rope on the stomach, eat more greens and vegetables. Keep fasting once a week in the evening. If we want to live, we will live with respect, otherwise we will die of hungerIt would be better to die of honor than to eat dishonored bread." Then the Green Revolution started, due to which India got self-reliance.

    India was victorious in the Indo-Pak war. This victory raised India's head high. After the end of the war, the Tashkent Pact was signed between India and Pakistan in Russia.

    He died the same night in Tashkent on January 10, 1666 due to cardiac arrest. The whole world was drowned in grief. India has lost its great popular leader forever. For this angel of peace, poet Sohanlal Dwivedi has written-

Went to find peace, slept in the lap of peace.

The seeds of world peace were sown while dying.
