    Maharishi Valmiki was born thousands of years ago. It cannot be said with certainty when and where he was born. His childhood name was Ratnakar. Leaving the fascination of the family in his youth, he became so engrossed in penance that termites made their bodies in his body. Maharishi did not know about this. Due to this incident, he was named Valmiki.

    Maharishi Valmiki lived in an ashram on the banks of river Tamasa near Ayodhya. Luv and Kush were born in this ashram. Luv-Kush was the son of Shri Ram. His education took place under the supervision of Maharishi Valmiki. Both were made knowledgeable and skilled in warfare by Maharishi Valmiki at an early age. Even today there is a divine ashram of Mahatma Valmiki Muni on the banks of river Tamasa.

    You must have seen Ramlila. This Ramlila is based on the story of 'Ramayana'. Maharishi Valmiki composed Ramayana in Sanskrit language while staying in the ashram. It is only through Ramayana that we know about the character of Shri Ram. Apart from this, we also get information about the living habits, food habits, clothes etc. of the people of that time.

    Maharishi Valmiki was also a great poet and teacher. Ramayana epic is famous not only in India but in the world. Maharishi Valmiki is remembered with respect and respect even today due to his policy, education and creation.
