Napoleon was the emperor of France. He was a great conquerer. He had won many battles. He was the greatest general of his time.
Once, when he wanted to invade Moscow, he ordered General Grouchy to take up position at a point by next morning. He had given this task to General Grouchy because he was the most reliable and dependable of all.
Grouchy felt that the task was impossible and it would be very difficult to achieve the target as a section of the Alps Range stood as a big obstacle. He expressed his fear to Napoleon.
He said, "Sir, it is impossible to move my men to the new position due to the Alps Range."
On hearing this, Napoleon thundered and uttered his immortal lines,
"Impossible is the word found in the dictionary of fools. Ask the Alps to make way for men. If it doesn't, smash it."
General Grouchy had no way but to carry out the orders somehow. His men got in action to clear the snowy mountains. By the next morning, the fighting force took their position at the point where Napoleon had wanted them to be.
How could General Grouchy make it possible? He knew the exact number of minutes and hours he had for the task. He regulated the task according to the time in hand. He knew how to keep up with time. He was always very punctual.
Only once in his life General Grouchy reached late at the battlefield of Waterloo.
The enemy took advantage of this lapse as his men were left alone without a leader. They lost their morale and lost the battle as well. Being late made General Grouchy lose the battle. Since then 'Waterloo' word has become associated with failure.
Therefore, always remember, time and tide wait for none. Time once gone never come back. Be punctual as punctuality is half way to success. Always keep in mind, "Never be late. Punctuality is a virtue."
Do what you do well in time,
Never be late in everything you do,
A little delay in doing a thing,
May lead you to 'Waterloo'
