Honesty And Truthfulness Story In English: Short Story On Truthfulness With Moral

Value Of Truthfulness Story

Learn to speak the truth

Whatever the cost,

Never fearing, if all is lost

For God rewards a truthful child,

And keeps him always happy and kind.

Read below the story of a boy who was very truthful.

Satyavrat was very poor but he was brave and truthful. His mother worked hard to bring him up. He grew up to be a nice boy. He planned to go to a nearby town in search of some work. He wanted to earn money to look after his mother when he was taking leave of his mother.

When he was taking leave of his mother, she gave him some money and said to him,"Use this money when you need it most. But remember, you must never tell a lie. Always speak the truth. God will always help you."

On the way, he had to cross a thick forest where a gang of robbers overtook him. They asked him what valuables he had on him. Now, as Satyavrat had promised his mother to never tell a lie, he told the robbers that he had only 40 rupees with him. His mother had given him only that much.

The robbers laughed loudly. They thought that he was joking. They heard him in disbelief and took him to their chief.

The chief too asked the same question. He was a bit surprised to hear the same reply. Then, they searched his belongings and and found out that the boy really had rupees 40 with him. He was truthful.

It surprised the bobbers all the more. Now they asked him the reason for his truthfulness when he could have easily told a lie to save himself.

Thereon, Satyavrat told them about his promise to his mother before leaving for the town.

He said, "I have promised my mother never to tell a lie."

They all looked at him in surprise and felt a change in their way of thinking.

It completely changed the heart of the chief. He bade farewell to his evil ways and so did his gang. Thus, Satyavrat helped the robbers to become good citizens by his truthfulness.

Truth has great power. It has its own virtue. It gives us courage and confidence. Speaking the truth is obeying the law of God. It pleased him and he saves us from all the troubles.

The moral of the story is that we should always be truthful no matter what the situation be.
